UWF to host 14th annual Festival on the Green

The 14th annual Festival on the Green will return on April 4 and 5 at the University of West Florida. The free event draws crowds of more than 20,000 people of all ages, as they celebrate Pensacola’s rich history and diverse culture.

The Festival features more than 20 different venues, including a Motorcycle Enthusiast Show; a Fine Arts Show; a Native American Village; a Children’s Festival; an International & Diversity Showcase; a Campus Life Expo; Festival Dining and more.

Highlights of this year’s Festival include:

The Dog Sports Exhibition: Come out and see dogs of all sizes show off their best as they jump through hoops and run obstacle courses in an agility exhibition sponsored by Five Flags Dog Training Club, followed by fly ball demonstrations by the Pensacola Furricanes Fly Ball team.

Children’s Festival: Saturday’s Children’s Festival features games, activities, face painting, magic, balloon animals, clowns and more. The UWF community, along with area businesses and organizations, will provide plenty of family activities.

Time Portal to Your Future: Across UWF’s spectrum of activities, vibrant centers and institutes continue to grow and expand along with a variety of programs and services. Come see what is available to the UWF community, alumni and future students. Also included is appearances by the Star Trek Continuum Crew including Capt. Kirk’s Center Chair, Star Wars Empire 501st legion and the Rebellion Parjai Squad, displays from the Naval Aviation Museum and the National Flight Academy.

Entertainment and the International and Diversity Showcase: The Diversity Stage will showcase dancers, musicians and other performers.

The featured artist for the 2014 Festival on the Green is Susan Rand. Her work, produced with spray paint, batik fabrics and cheesecloth on plywood, is featured on this year’s festival t-shirts, posters and programs.
