UWF graduate student chosen as national student leader for recreational sports organization
Mallory Gohl, facilities operations graduate assistant for Recreation and Sports Services at the University of West Florida, was recently named the student leader of the National Intramural-Recreational Sports Association (NIRSA). She is the second UWF student to receive the national student leader title.
“I am extremely honored to be elected as the national student leader for the 2013 term,” Gohl said. “While serving in this position, I hope to improve the communication between the member network and the students at each university to help increase the involvement of students within NIRSA. I am also very excited to work with each regional student leader, and I hope that as a group we can make a big impact on the organization.”
As the national student leader, Gohl’s responsibilities will include: serving all current and potential NIRSA student members by setting student goals and initiatives for the organization; staying actively involved and building relationships with constituents; releasing recurring articles on state of affairs; and chairing the agenda and developing the student report at the annual student meeting.
NIRSA is the leading resource for professional and student development, education and research in collegiate recreational sports. Headquartered in Corvallis, Ore., the organization currently includes almost 4,000 highly trained professional, student and associate members throughout the U.S., Canada and other countries. NIRSA serves an estimated 5.5 million students who regularly participate in campus recreational sports programs.
