UWF Department of Theatre presents Evita

The University of West Florida Department of Theatre will present “Evita,” the modern classic by Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber. Performances will be held on Feb. 17, 18, 24 and 25 at 7:30 p.m. and Feb. 19 and 26 at 2:30 p.m. All performances will take place in the Mainstage Theatre of the Center for Fine and Performing Arts, Building 82.

This multiple Tony Award winning musical drama is based on the true story of Eva Peron who leaves her small hometown as a teenager to seek fame and fortune in Buenos Aires. There she becomes a celebrated actress and eventually the second wife of Juan Peron, helping him become elected President of Argentina. Ultimately, she becomes a “true voice” for the people of Argentina before her death.

The show features popular hits “Don’t Cry for Me, Argentina,” “Another Suitcase in Another Hall” and “You Must Love Me.”

The creative team, led by Director Sara Schoch and Musical Director Tom Baroco, includes Charles Houghton as Set and Lighting Designer and Glenn Avery Breed as Costume Designer.

Ticket prices are $16 per person for adults, $12 per person for senior citizens and active military, $10 per person for non-UWF students and UWF faculty and staff, and $5 for high school students.
