UWF Department of Theatre presents A Christmas Carol – A Ghost Story of Christmas
The University of West Florida Department of Theatre will celebrate the 10th anniversary production of “A Christmas Carol – A Ghost Story of Christmas,” a new take on the beloved Charles Dickens classic adapted by Michael Wilson. Performances will be held Dec. 2, 3, 9 and 10 at 7:30 p.m. and Dec. 4 and 11 at 2:30 p.m. All performances will take place in the Mainstage Theatre of the Center for Fine and Performing Arts, Building 82, on the UWF Pensacola Campus.

This spirited retelling of Charles Dickens’ classic pushes the fantastical elements of the beloved holiday story into the spotlight. A chorus of ghosts dance and carol their way in and out of this timeless tale of redemption, magic and hope as Ebenezer Scrooge learns to embrace true holiday spirit.
Guest Director Richard Roland leads the creative team, which includes Department of Theatre Chairperson Charles Houghton as lighting and set designer and Glenn Avery Breed as costume designer.
Richard Roland’s has directed in theatres in New York and across the country. His productions include “Steel Magnolias”, “Brigadoon”, “110 in the Shade”, “Dogfight”, “Forever Plaid”, “Grease”, “Ragtime”, “Hairspray”, “Chicago”, “Thoroughly Modern Millie”, “God of Carnage”, “Urinetown”, “Barefoot in the Park”, “The 39 Steps”, “Metamorphoses”, “Souvenir”, “Dear Ruth” and “Avenue Q”. He also served as Associate Artistic Director for the 2012 season at Theatre Raleigh in North Carolina. He was Associate Director for the NYC premiere of “Vanities – A New Musical” and for the Danish premiere of “The Story of My Life”. Richard spent some time as an actor once, appearing on Broadway in “Thoroughly Modern Millie”, “Follies”, and “The Scarlet Pimpernel”, and the 1st National Tours of “Titanic” and “…Millie”. Richard is a proud member of Stage Directors and Choreographers Society and holds an MFA in Directing from Penn State.
Ticket prices are $16 for adults, $12 for senior citizens and active military, $10 per for non-UWF students and UWF faculty and staff, and $5 for high school students.
