UWF Department of Music presents the Runge Strings Orchestra in concert

The University of West Florida Department of Music will present the Runge Strings Orchestra in concert on Thursday, April 19 at 7:30 p.m. The performance will be held in the Music Hall at the Center for Fine and Performing Arts, Building 82.

The Runge Strings Orchestra bid farewell to the spring semester with a night of classical music. Dr. Leonid Yanovskiy and Dr. Boyan Bonev will conduct the orchestra through “The Farewell Symphony” by Joseph Haydn.

One of his most well-known works, Haydn’s “Symphony No. 45 in F# minor,”  commonly referred to as the “Farewell Symphony,” was composed as an attempt to persuade his patron to allow the court musicians to return to their families after an extended stay at the Eszteráza estate. The message was apparently received. The court returned to their families the day following the performance.

The event is free and open to the public, but tickets are required.
