UWF Department of Music presents the 12th Annual All-Steinway School Celebration

The UWF Department of Music will present its 12th Annual All-Steinway School Celebration on Saturday, Jan. 20 at 7:30 p.m. The concert will be held in the Music Hall at the Center for Fine & Performing Arts, Building 82.

In 2007, through the generous gift of Helen Wentworth, the UWF Department of Music became an “All-Steinway School.” At that time, UWF was only the second university to have this distinction in the state of Florida. In honor of Helen and Warren Wentworth, the department initiated an Annual Steinway Piano Showcase and the celebration has become a popular annual event in the community.

For this year’s celebration pianists will perform an All-Liszt program, including Concert Etudes, “The Fountains of Villa D’Este,” “Dante Sonata,” “Mephisto Waltz” and other well-known piano compositions. It will also feature a notable alumnus, Matt Wood, who is pursuing his doctoral degree at Louisiana State University.

Since becoming an All-Steinway School many of UWF’s piano students have continued their studies at top graduate music programs such as the Cleveland Institute of Music, Florida State University, Belmont University, Louisiana State University, University of Southern Mississippi, University of Tennessee, Michigan State University, Montclair University and others.

This event is free and open to the public, but tickets are required. For more information or to reserve tickets, please contact the CFPA Box Office at 850.857.6285.
