UWF College of Health partners with Andrews Research & Education Foundation

The Andrews Research & Education Foundation and the College of Health at the University of West Florida recently signed a memorandum of understanding to promote research, education, industry engagement and community outreach in the medicine and public health fields.

“It’s really a positive thing,” said Dr. Ermalynn Kiehl, dean of the UWF College of Health. “It opens communication and a path to explore future health collaborations in education and research.”

The agreement, which takes effect immediately and lasts three years, states that the College of Health and AREF may collaborate “in the design, recruitment and implementation of innovative programs, projects and activities emphasizing medicine and the health-related disciplines represented in the College of Health.”

AREF focuses on delivering educational training and information to practitioners and the sports medicine community, under the leadership of internationally renowned orthopedic surgeon Dr. James Andrews. Researchers at AREF collaborate with board certified physicians to address issues that increase quality of life and enhance performance. They work on injury prevention, return to performance protocols, effective repair and rehabilitation for both amateur and professional athletes.

“The Andrews Research & Education Foundation is excited to explore opportunities with the University that will align our two organizations on both local and national research, education, and community outreach initiatives,” said Jon McDonald, operations and finance director for AREF. “This collaboration will help us focus on additional opportunities and programs, and is a success for both our organizations and the community.”
