UWF College of Business AACSB accreditation renewed

The University of West Florida College of Business has achieved accreditation renewal for its undergraduate business degree programs and its graduate Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Master of Accountancy from AACSB International, the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. AACSB is the premier accreditation agency for business schools. Only 15 percent of business schools internationally have achieved AACSB accreditation. The UWF College of Business is the only AACSB accredited business school in Northwest Florida.

“AACSB International accreditation represents the highest standard of achievement for business schools, worldwide,” said Ed Ranelli, dean of the College of Business. “Institutions that earn accreditation confirm their commitment to quality and continuous improvement through a rigorous and comprehensive peer review process. AACSB International accreditation is the hallmark of excellence in business education.”

To achieve accreditation, business programs must satisfy the expectations of a wide range of quality standards relating to the college’s mission and strategic management of resources; the characteristics of its students and the composition, academic and professional qualifications of its faculty; and the interactions of faculty and students in the educational process and achievement of learning goals in degree programs.

AACSB International is an association of more than 1,100 educational institutions, businesses and other organizations in 70 countries that are dedicated to the advancement of business education worldwide. AACSB International is the longest serving and largest global accrediting body for business schools that offer bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees in business and accounting.

The UWF College of Business currently offers programs in accounting and finance, management and management information systems and marketing and economics. When compared to undergraduate students at other business schools, UWF College of Business students have consistently scored in the top 20 percent nationally on the ETS Major Field Test in Business, a comprehensive undergraduate and MBA outcomes assessment designed to measure the basic, critical knowledge obtained and understanding achieved by students.

“We are very proud of our students and faculty and the notable and highly successful alumni of the College of Business,” said Ranelli. “The UWF College of Business offers an excellent, student-oriented learning environment involving a strong team of motivated students, an engaging faculty and a caring group of advisors and departmental personnel.”
