Sixth Annual UWF Alumni Scholarship Classic supports scholarships for UWF Students
The University of West Florida hosted the Sixth Annual Alumni Scholarship Classic tournament today at Scenic Hills Country Club. Each year, the Scholarship Classic draws area alumni, faculty, staff, students and members of the community to compete in the tournament.
Over the past six years, more than $44,000 has been raised to directly support UWF students through scholarships, which includes the $8,675 raised this year.
“The Annual Alumni Scholarship Classic is a great way for UWF alumni, faculty, staff and students to come together, all while benefiting UWF students with scholarship funds,” said Dave Langston, vice president of the UWF Alumni Association. “We appreciate the support of the Pensacola community and look forward to the continued success of the tournament.”
The tournament concluded this afternoon, with the following teams placing:
- 1st Place: John Switzer, Randall Wells, Lonnie Loren, John Brewer
- 2nd Place: Hugh Fones, David Erickson, Marty Stanovich, Tim Anthony
- 3rd Place: Pete Wright, Mark Pursell, Tom Marucci, Jim Witt

Earlier this morning, UWF Business Enterprises, Inc. (BEI) hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the partnership between Scenic Hills Country Club and UWF BEI. On June 29, 2012 UWF BEI finalized the purchase of Scenic Hills Country Club. The partnership will enhance experiential education for University students.
