Jeff Schmitt wins NIRSA Horace Moody Award

The 2012 National Intramural-Recreational Sports Association (NIRSA) Annual Conference honored UWF’s Jeff Schmitt, associate director of Recreation and Sports Services, with the Region II Horace Moody Award. The Horace Moody Award recognizes and applauds professional members who have made contributions to student development by their encouragement, support and performance.

“Jeff’s motivation and involvement in NIRSA have been incredible assets not only to NIRSA, but also to the students that work within and participate in UWF’s Recreation and Sports Services Department,” states April Moore, facilities and student development coordinator of Recreation and Schmitt’s nominator. “Jeff works hard to help produce successful sports tournaments, to create a culture of commitment to NIRSA at UWF, and to educate students and professionals alike within the NIRSA network. By recommending him for the Horace Moody Award, I hope to give him recognition for all of his hard work and dedication to both NIRSA and UWF over the years.”

This is the second Horace Moody Award won by the University of West Florida Recreation staff members.
