Matthews will be graduating in the fall of 2015 and is a member of the studio of Distinguished University Professor, Hedi Salanki.

“I am really humbled and shocked that I’ve been asked to play at Carnegie Hall for the second time,” said Matthews. “I’ve grown so much over the past year, due to the intense training and education I’ve received from Dr. Salanki, and I feel even more prepared to perform at Carnegie Hall. I look forward to showcasing what being a piano student at UWF is all about.”

Matthews will be presenting a dress rehearsal prior to his departure for New York on Monday, May 18 at 4 p.m. at Dollarhide’s Music Center located in downtown Pensacola. The dress rehearsal is free and open to the public.

The American Protégé International Competition is designed for young musicians, actors, singers and dancers on the path to a successful career. To learn more about the UWF Department of Music visit http://uwf.edu/cassh/departments/music/.
