New international trade specialist for Florida SBDC at UWF to host workshop
The Florida Small Business Development Center at the University of West Florida announces Julia Montgomery as its new international trade specialist. Montgomery, who began in August 2014, supports the trade expansion and educational mission of the Florida SBDC and the UWF College of Business by providing international trade development services to the community.
Montgomery, proficient in export marketing, will present a workshop on Tuesday, Feb. 24 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Greater Pensacola Chamber. The workshop, entitled “Growing Your Business Through International Trade: Exporting 101,” is designed to teach attendees about the benefits and basic steps involved in exporting, how to develop an export strategy and key resources that can help businesses along the way to going global.
“The Florida SBDC is taking a proactive approach to assisting Florida businesses who are interested in the possibility of exporting, said Kelly Massey, regional director of the FSBDC at UWF. “With the addition of a trained and certified International Trade Specialist, the Florida SBDC can assist companies with export readiness, export marketing plans, export finance considerations, export logistics, export licensing and other programs and services available to Florida businesses. Julia brings experience and knowledge to this region that will take international trade to the next level.” 
Previously, Montgomery served in the lending industry and has a strong international business background and experience with export marketing business plans. She recently earned her Certified Global Business Professional certification from the National Association of Small Business International Trade Educators.
“I am pleased to be providing export marketing service to the team at the Florida SBDC,” said Montgomery. “This is an exciting opportunity in international relations, and I look forward to helping Pensacola-area businesses enter and succeed in foreign markets.”
Montgomery received a bachelor’s degree in international business from Arkansas State University and a master’s degree in international studies from Oklahoma State University.
