The University of West Florida Division of Continuing and Distance Education will hold the Project Management Professional (PMP) Prep Course Monday-Thursday, May 6-9 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the UWF Pensacola campus. Project Management Professional certification indicates to current and potential employers a solid foundation of project management knowledge, making it a valuable tool for professionals in the workforce.

The cost of the course is $1,900, which includes a new Amazon Kindle e-reader and all course materials. Participants will earn 36 Professional Development Units (PDUs) upon completion of the course.

The Project Management Professional exam prep course allows attendees to hone their management expertise during a comprehensive review of the nine major project management subject areas: Quality, Scope, Time, Cost, Human Resources, Communications, Risk, Procurement, and Integration Management.

Qualifications to take the course and sit for the exam are as follows: Bachelor’s degree (four year) or higher must have at least 4,500 hours experience leading and directing project tasks in the last 36 months; high school diploma or equivalent must have at least 7,500 hours experience leading and directing project tasks in the last 60 months.

Following completion of the course, participants must pass an exam to earn the Project Management Professional Certification.  Once granted the certification, professionals must demonstrate an ongoing professional commitment to the field of project management by satisfying continuing certification requirements.

Mark Ward, retired U.S. Air Force officer and former PMI Specific Interest Group Vice-Chair for Professional Development, will lead the course. He has a Ph.D., PMP, several technical certifications and years of practical project and program management experience.  He also has years of teaching experience in the public and private sector, having taught PMP exam prep courses online and in classroom settings.
