The University of West Florida announces Dr. Brandon A. Frye as the new Assistant Vice President of Student Affairs and Dean of students, effective Feb. 11, 2013.  In this position, Frye will support both the educational mission of the university and the Division of Student Affairs by providing programs, services, resources and advocacy for the needs and interests of all UWF students.

“Brandon’s experience with university life makes him a perfect candidate for this position at UWF,” said Dr. Kevin Bailey, vice president of Student Affairs. “In addition, his experience with community involvement and crisis response will be a great support to our campus life community engagement.”

Previously, Frye served as the Director of Student Development at Auburn University, providing vision and leadership for the Office of Student Conduct, Greek Life Office and Student Advocacy/Case Management Services. He chaired the Critical Incident Response Team and was a member of the Student Affairs Executive Team, working collaboratively with Auburn city police, Office of Public Safety, General Counsel and the university provost to provide students well being, campus safety and security.

“It is clear that UWF is a very exciting place to be at right now,” said Frye, during his on-campus tour. “The focus the University places on student learning and success was very appealing to me as a candidate for the position.  I look forward to joining the team and working collaboratively with faculty, staff and community members to aid students as they navigate their collegiate experience.”

Before his role at Auburn University, Frye held numerous roles at the University of Georgia including Assistant Dean of Students, Coordinator for Case Management & Assessment and Advisor to fraternities. Frye has also served as a university professor, teaching undergraduate and graduate-level courses at the University of Georgia and Auburn University.

As an avid campus community representative through his committee work, Frye has delivered several presentations at the state, regional and national level.

Frye is a graduate of Appalachian State University where he received his bachelor’s degree in History & Secondary Education and also his master’s degree in Student Development.  He received his doctorate in Student Affairs Administration from the University of Georgia.
